Ramey (2001) states that, "Alternanthera philoxeroides has largish white papery flowers which are totally different."
Hygrophila costata

Ramey (2001) states that, "Hygrophila costata is entirely emersed or terrestrial. It is much larger and taller (to 80 cm), mostly erect, with much larger leaves, and flowers along the entire stem (rather than just at the top)."
